November 2022 Newsletter

ORIENTATION

Children from Eeyores and Tiggers Place will be participating in orientation if they are moving up a room for 2023.

We will do this in small groups to ensure ratios are being met. If your child has participated in orientation, we will let you know.

New families are invited to attend orientation from the 14/11 to the 7/12. You may hear your children talking about new friends.

2023 ENROLMENTS

As stated in your confirmation email.

You received your confirmations in September 2022. Update of bonds were due by Tuesday 27th September 2022 (via iPay, added to your invoice) to secure your child’s days of attendance for 2023.

Reducing confirmed days for 2023 after Tuesday 27th September (eg: reducing days from 5 days to 2 days) will mean you to forfeit your bond for the days reduced.

Withdrawing your child’s enrolment for 2023 after Tuesday 27th September will forfeit your full bond.

Your child’s current enrolment pattern (from September 2022) must be ongoing throughout 2022 to maintain your confirmed 2023 enrolment. Any notice / withdrawal / reduction will void this 2023 confirmation.

WITHDRAWAL OF YOUR CHILD/REDUCING DAYS

Parents must give at least three weeks written notice to the Director before withdrawing their child from Hunny Pots.  If the child does not attend the Centre during this period, fees are still payable (Please see the below section: A child who has not yet received care or who has ceased receiving care) If the child is withdrawn without notice, three weeks full fees must be paid regardless.

Parents may reduce their child’s days of attendance by giving three weeks’ notice to the Director.

No notice period accepted in December and January for withdrawing or reducing days.

A child who has not yet received care or who has ceased receiving care

Below is from the Child Care Handbook Australian Government Department of Education and Training:

Child Care Subsidy will not be paid for absences where a provider charges a family to reserve a place for a child who has not yet physically started care.

If a child is booked in to start at a service on a particular date, and does not start on that day, no Child Care Subsidy will be paid until the child physically attends a session of care.

Similarly, a child care service is taken to have permanently ceased providing care for a child on the day the child last physically attends a session of care. This means that Child Care Subsidy will not be paid for absences submitted after a child last physically attends a session of care.

If a family has confirmed their child’s last day at a service, but that child does not attend their last booked sessions of care, no Child Care Subsidy will be paid for any days after the child’s last physical attendance at the service.

If a provider continues to charge fees for sessions on days after a child has left the service because the family did not give the agreed period of notice, Child Care Subsidy will not be payable for these sessions of care. If absences are reported in the above circumstances and Child Care Subsidy is incorrectly paid, these amounts will be recovered from the service.

You must physically attend the last day of care (minimum one hour) to receive child care subsidy on your last day.

Quality Area 3 – information for families on how we achieve this area.

Physical environment:  Quality Area 3 of the National standard focuses on the physical environment. The physical environment is critical to:

  • Contribute to children’s wellbeing, creativity and developing independence
  • Providing a diverse range of experiences that promote children’s learning and development.
  • Keeping Children safe
  • Creating/organising spaces to reduce the risk of injury

Standards, elements and concepts

Quality Area 3 has two standards that focus on the design of service facilities and the use of the services physical environment to support children’s experiences. These standards are crucial to delivering quality learning outcomes for the children under the National Quality Framework because:

  • Inclusive built and natural environments in indoor and outdoor spaces, when appropriately resourced, promote play-based learning
  • Well maintained, fit- for- purpose facilities keep children safe and support each child’s access to facilities and participation in activities/ experiences
  • The air quality
  • Ventilation and access to light

Well-designed facilities support children to access different area, move between indoor and outdoor spaces, explore, experiment, create and express themselves, while allowing others in their space to do the same. When educators, with support from the educational leader, create physical and social learning environments that have positive impact on the children’s learning, they are able to spend valuable time interacting with children. This enriches the lives and identities of children and families.

At Hunny Pots Early Learning Centre Our environment is welcoming, home like and inviting for the children and families.

In the mornings the children help their educators to set up the environment and planning in terms of how the set ups are going be and where is it going to be set up in the environment.

Our design of the environments is set up in a way that is flexible and caters for different needs and inclusive access by all children.

We have cube shelves that can be accessed by the children and is inclusive of a range of experiences.

Backgrounds of the cultures of families and the broader community is reflected in the environment through our program and experiences, spontaneously, through celebration, events, ‘All about me forms’ and ‘weekend book entries’

Our environments and play spaces provide children with the opportunity to play independently as well as promote small and large group interactions, eg quiet area, Nature area, book area

Indoor and outdoor spaces allow the children to access resources to utilise not only the cube shelves but also from the table activities, upon requests and interest-based activities.

We are a Sustainable Centre, and enthusiastic about teaching our children about how to save the planet through, gardening, planting vegetables, composting, worm farm, using recycled resources in their play experiences, craft, music etc.

We provide meaningful and inquiry- based experiences in both indoor and outdoor setting with appropriate levels of challenge to support exploration and experimentation.

We encourage the children to use their senses to explore natural and built environments.

Experiences meet age appropriate, interests and abilities of all children. This is done through class reflection, spontaneous interest and information from the ‘All about me forms’

Our environment facilitates free flow of activities throughout the day. The set ups are spread out in both indoor and outdoor environment.

We encourage the children to use natural elements in all learning environments such as loose parts, recycled resources

At Hunny Pots Early Learning Centre, safety is our priority in our setting. We strongly believe that children need a learning environment that provides challenges and some risk taking. The design of our physical environment strongly emphasis on safety and is balanced with enabling children to learn about, risk and develop responsible and self -regulated behaviours.  We have an active supervision policy when children are using multiple areas of the environment at the same time and each area is supervised.

We daily use a safety checklist to minimise hazards and it is critical for maintaining the safety and the physical environment, including the building. Recently we reviewed our safety checklist and its updated annually to keep systems and procedures in place.

Our facility is designed and adapted to ensure access and participation by every child in the service to allow flexible use allowing the areas to be used for multiple purposes and collaboration between indoor and outdoor space.
