November / December 2024 Newsletter

Children from Eeyores and Tiggers Place will be participating in orientation if they are moving up a room for 2025. We will do this in small groups to ensure ratios are being met.

This will start from 18th November to the 3rd December. If your child has participated in orientation, we will let you know.

New families are invited to attend orientation from the 18th November to 13th  December. You may hear your children talking about new friends.

2025 ENROLMENTS

As stated in your confirmation email.

For existing families: Update of bonds are due by Tuesday 17th September 2024 (via iPay, added to your invoice) to secure your child’s days of attendance for 2024.

Reducing confirmed days for 2025 after Tuesday 17th September 2024 (eg: reducing days from 5 days to 2 days) will mean you to forfeit your bond for the days reduced.

Withdrawing your child’s enrolment for 2025 after Tuesday 17th September will forfeit your full bond.

Your child’s current enrolment pattern (from September 2024) must be ongoing throughout 2024 to maintain your confirmed 2025 enrolment. Any notice / withdrawal / reduction will void this 2025 confirmation.

POOH’S CORNER CHILDREN

All Pooh’s Corner enrolments finish on Friday 20th December 2024 (unless January care has been arranged and confirmed with Monique) We will be refunding bonds mid January 2025. Please let us know via email the bank account you wish to have your bond refunded to.

POOHS CORNER GRADUATION

Poohs Corner Graduation will be on Thursday 12th December at Castle Hill Lollipops Playland 6pm-8pm.

An invitation will be sent to Poohs Corner families soon. We look forward to celebrating this wonderful milestone.

WITHDRAWAL OF YOUR CHILD/REDUCING DAYS

Parents must give at least three weeks written notice to the Director before withdrawing their child from Hunny Pots.  If the child does not attend the Centre during this period, fees are still payable (Please see the below section: A child who has not yet received care or who has ceased receiving care) If the child is withdrawn without notice, three weeks full fees must be paid regardless.

Parents may reduce their child’s days of attendance by giving three weeks’ notice to the Director.

No notice period accepted in December and January for withdrawing or reducing days.

A child who has not yet received care or who has ceased receiving care

Below is from the Child Care Handbook Australian Government Department of Education and Training:

Child Care Subsidy will not be paid for absences where a provider charges a family to reserve a place for a child who has not yet physically started care.

If a child is booked in to start at a service on a particular date, and does not start on that day, no Child Care Subsidy will be paid until the child physically attends a session of care.

Similarly, a child care service is taken to have permanently ceased providing care for a child on the day the child last physically attends a session of care. This means that Child Care Subsidy will not be paid for absences submitted after a child last physically attends a session of care.

If a family has confirmed their child’s last day at a service, but that child does not attend their last booked sessions of care, no Child Care Subsidy will be paid for any days after the child’s last physical attendance at the service.

If a provider continues to charge fees for sessions on days after a child has left the service because the family did not give the agreed period of notice, Child Care Subsidy will not be payable for these sessions of care. If absences are reported in the above circumstances and Child Care Subsidy is incorrectly paid, these amounts will be recovered from the service.

You must physically attend the last day of care (minimum one hour) to receive child care subsidy on your last day.

SELF ASSESSMENT TOOL (SAT)

Last newsletter, we provided information from our final report of our assessment and rating where we received exceeding. We provided the feedback we got from quality area 2. Below we have provided comments from quality area 3.

Quality area 3 – Physical environment

Standard 3.1 -The design of the facilities is appropriate for the operation of a service

Indoor and outdoor environments are spacious and suitable for their purpose, including supporting the access of every child. Daily environmental and cleaning checklists are completed for each space prior to use to ensure that all accessible areas are safe, clean, and well maintained, as noted in the service philosophy. The physical environment is open, allowing for indoor outdoor play to occur with clear lines of supervision and ease of access to each space and the bathroom. Feedback is actively sought from the families in regard to the set-up of the environment to ensure the spaces are fit for purpose

Standard 3.2- the service environment is inclusive, promotes competence and support exploration and play based learning

Every child’s participation is supported in both indoor and outdoor environments through the sufficient number of resources and equipment that is available in a range of natural and man-made materials. Flexible arrangements of these resources and equipment, together with materials that allow for multiple uses, encourages children to become adaptable and investigate as they engage in play-based learning, a core component of the service philosophy. Educators develop children’s understanding of the natural environment and encourage children to become environmentally responsible through engaging in sustainable practices, which has been strengthened by the relationship the service has made with a regional early childhood education and care service. Educators constantly critically reflect on the environment and resources available for the children to ensure the environment is inclusive and serving its purpose

REPORTS AND TRANSTION STATEMENTS

The educators are busy completing end of year reports and transition to school statements for the children. The educators have loved writing these reports as they can reflect on your child’s learning journey from the start of the year to now. These will be placed in your child’s portfolio which you can read when you are given your child’s portfolio at the end of the year.

SUMMARY OF THE YEAR

Eeyores

In Eeyore’s, laughter and curiosity fills the room as our 0–3-year-olds explore their learning environment through play. Eeyore’s are able to get messy and creative in our sensory projects that stem from interests like playdough and bubbles. Music and movement and farm animals are our other projects that bring out the creative and dramatical side of our children. We are a diverse room, welcoming a range of different cultures. Songs such as “Jamal Kudu”, “Frozen”, “Naacho Naacho” and “Morne Banke” blast through our room, fostering inclusivity and appreciation for different backgrounds. Eeyore’s love reading especially books such as “Hungry Caterpillar” and “Cranky Bear”.  Everyday Eeyores have new little quotes that they love to say to make each other laugh and smile.

Tiggers

This year Tiggers have explored a range of interests and experiences which have led to their main projects. These projects have included colours, transport (paw patrol), dramatic (cooking, movies, roleplaying), sustainability, science, re-inventing stories and music and movement. The children across the year have loved exploring these interests with their peers and educators, engaging in exciting experiences each day. Dancing is another main interest of the children as they are consistently requesting their favourite Danny Go and DJ Raphi songs, singing their hearts out and following all the actions with their peers, laughing and dancing together. All of the children have enjoyed exploring constructive learning as they have used all of the different blocks (polydrone, lego, poly-m, wooden blocks, Duplo) to create their own creations, connecting materials and blocks together. Linking to the re-inventing stories project, the children have enjoyed reading stories across the year, picking stories from Hunny Pots (the Very Cranky Bear, Dinosaur stories, Peppa Pig stories and Paw Patrol stories) while also bringing in their own stories to share with Tiggers.

Each individual child has added their own spark to the room, sharing their interests and personality to build Tigger’s Place. P.s “I LOVE YOU” as all our children love to say.

Poohs

Warami from Pooh’s Corner,

We wanted to share with you all the exciting adventures we have had this year! We have loved engaging and learning about science; engaging in all types of experiments, our art and literacy skills through drawing, our own interpretation of flags, stories, our friends and family.

We have also incorporated writing our friends names and learning rhyming words. We have also enjoyed setting up our yarning circles and engaging in different conversations with our educators and writing and sharing our drawings with our pen pal Shirley Pearl. We have also loved exploring building with blocks, magnets and recycled materials, using their imagination to create. We have enjoyed sensory experiences such as playdough and slime which has developed their fine motor skills. Pooh’s Corner have loved cooking and become aware of healthy eating! We loved dancing, especially to Danny Go and singing songs! We also loved dressing up for Wacky Wednesday and looking after Dharug country through gardening. What an amazing year of learning
