READING YOUR PARENT HANDBOOK

Please ensure you have read our Hunny Pots Parent handbook. It covers many aspects of the centre’s operations to have consistency and smooth running of the service.

OFFICE HOURS

Office hours are: 8am – 5.00pm.

You will see Miss Monique, Mr Simon, Miss Sandy, Miss Allison or Miss Natalie in the office.

We have generally one person in the office at all times (2 people from 11-2.30pm most days).

All are able to take payments whilst in the office, take messages etc.

Our roles vary to ensure consistency and a smooth running of the office.

Miss Monique is the only one who deals with enrolments – this is to avoid any errors etc. Please send an email or pass on a message in Monique’s absence.

Simon and Monique are now rotating early and late shift due to family commitments.

Miss Allison and Miss Natalie assist in the afternoons in our absence. They are very capable to assist in any general matters. They will pass on any messages for Simon and Monique who will contact you at the earliest convenience.

Miss Sandy works every Wednesday for the morning shift. She also assists if Simon and Monique are on annual leave.

Simon and Monique will be doing shorter days during these school holidays – the office will still be open from 8am-4.30/5pm. We thank you for your understanding.

Many families use bank transfer to make payments – our bank details are:

Account Number:   175299729

Please reference your child’s FULL name.

ALL ABOUT ME FORMS

Thank you to all the families for returning your child’s All about me forms. These forms enhance our educational program and work in partnerships with families to achieve goals for the children. We look forward to implementing wonderful learning activities through these forms.

ILLNESS

We thank our families who are keeping their children at home due to illness. We do understand how hard it is to juggle sick children and work commitments.

However, children’s health (and our staff’s health) is a high priority of ours.

By keeping your child at home to fully recover from an illness will prevent spreading the illness to other children.

Our policy does state that any child that has been sent home from Hunny Pots with a high temperature (over 38) or vomiting/diarrhea needs to stay home for the next 24 hours.

We thank you for your cooperation in keeping our children and staff healthy.

ARRIVAL TIME

It is best to arrive before 9.30am to ensure your child gets the most out of their day! To arrive before morning tea gives children the opportunity to play, interact and learn.

This applies in particular to Pooh’s Corner children – this is a great school readiness skill in preparation to be on time for BIG school.

BELONGINGS

Please ensure you label EVERYTHING. This helps us to place appropriate items into the correct child’s bag.

Particularly with the change of season, we will have a lot of jackets on and off to return back to bags.

Please be aware, that in Tigger’s Place and Pooh’s Corner we encourage the children to look after their own belongings (a school readiness skill). Having items labeled helps us when things are left behind, to be able to return them to you. If you have any items in your child’s bag that don’t belong to them – please return as they may have been placed in the incorrect bag. If your child has been sent home in Hunny Pots spare clothing, please return so we can maintain our supply of spare clothing.

Please ensure your child knows their locker so they can place their belongings in the correct spot. Lockers can change from time to time due to new enrolments and/or days changing. Please ensure you know your child’s locker to encourage this skill.

Please place bed sheets in the bed cupboard for your child’s room.

Please label drink bottles – and ensure it remains labeled. We have many bottles that look similar – for hygiene reasons and to return drink bottles to you, please label clearly.

We look forward to hearing about their new ideas! We always discuss training in our regular staff meetings.

HARMONY DAY EXTENSIONS-

We thank you for your contributions to our Harmony Day celebrations. We enjoyed seeing our families place their child’s name on their country of origin. Pooh’s Corner will be continuing this learning interest by celebrating diversity. We would love to hear more about your culture, background, see costumes etc. If you have anything that can be brought in/shared with Pooh’s Corner please bring it in.

Miss Jade is nearing the end of her 12 month contract with Hunny Pots Early Learning Centre.

She is near completion of her Certificate three in children’s services. We unfortunately will be saying goodbye to Miss Jade on Tuesday 17th May due to excessive staffing at present. We have loved having Miss Jade with us and wish her every success in life.

We are still currently looking for a cook on Thursday and Fridays. If you know of anyone who has an interest in cooking for children and available Thursday and Fridays 8.45-1.30pm please ask them to send an email to us info@hunnypots.com.au full training will be provided.

Our beautiful educators are currently taking turns preparing morning tea, lunch, second course and afternoon tea – we truly appreciate their help.

TRANSITIONING FROM EEYORES TO TIGGERS

If your child turns 3 years old before the 31st July, we will endeavor to move them from Eeyore’s room to Tigger’s room. This is based on there being a position available – we will do our best to hold positions; however we can only keep a position open for a short period of time.

When children move to the next room they participate in orientation, this is to assist with a smooth transition to their new room. They have the opportunity to become familiar with their new teachers and children in the room. The previous teacher will pass on information and observation records of the child to the next teacher to ensure consistency and continuity. Please have a conversation with the new room teachers to discuss future goals, any concerns and confirm any allergies.

Children are encouraged to be toilet trained before they go into Tigger’s Place, as there are no nappy changing facilities in this room. – (please refer to toilet training).

Transitioning from Eeyore’s to Tigger’s is the only room we transition from mid year.  Tigger’s placements are for the year.

TOILET TRAINING

Toddlers who indicate their readiness to train will be encouraged and given the opportunity to progress towards independence. Our team is happy to give you advice and guidance during this transition time. Our team will work in partnership with you to ensure consistency and continuity for your child.

There are no nappy changing facilities in our preschool room (Tiggers Place) or school readiness room (Pooh’s Corner)
